How we work

A low fee, and we back the outcome.

Software costs more than most good ideas can afford at the start. Our answer is to charge less up front and take a small share of what it becomes, so the price of beginning is not the reason a thing never exists.

The arrangement

Low fee, 5% stake.

Everything below is agreed in writing before any work starts. Nothing here is a surprise you discover later.

The fee
A low fixed fee, quoted once we understand what you actually need. Fixed means fixed — if we misjudged the work, that is our problem, not a revised invoice.
The stake
5% of the resulting product or company. Agreed and documented before we begin, never negotiated afterwards.
Why a stake at all
It keeps the starting cost low, and it means we are not indifferent to whether the thing succeeds. We would rather own a small part of something that works than bill you fully for something that does not.
Who owns the idea
You do. It was yours before you told us and it stays yours afterwards.
Who owns the code
You do. The 5% is a stake in the outcome, not a claim on your intellectual property, and not a licence for us to reuse your work elsewhere.
Confidentiality
Ask for a mutual NDA and we will sign one before you send us anything at all — the idea, the code, the business model, any of it.
If we cannot help
We will say so. If your existing build is in better shape than you feared, or the work you want is not work we are good at, taking your money anyway would be the wrong outcome for both of us.
Our commitment

We will not take your idea.

This is the thing people are quietly worried about when they approach a developer with something unbuilt, and they are right to be. So we will state it plainly rather than leave it to trust.

  • ✓
We will not build our own version of it Not during the work, not afterwards.
  • ✓
We will not pass it to anyone else Your idea and your code are not shared outside the people working on your project.
  • ✓
We will not reuse your code elsewhere What we write for you belongs to you, and stays with you.
  • ✓
We will not compete with you We will not launch a product against you in the market you brought us into.
